The Peter and Carmen Lucia Buck Foundation, Inc.
Dr. Peter Buck and his wife Carmen Lucia established the PCLB Foundation in 1999 as a private family foundation that seeks to improve the quality of life in the communities it serves.
PCLB’s work is directed by its purpose statement, “giving motivated people the tools they need to help themselves.” These tools are about more than grants and include guidance, connections, convening, sharing information, and other forms of assistance that the foundation and its grantees can provide. We look to support the highest‐quality organizations that show initiative, leadership, and innovation.
PCLB has chosen Education Opportunity, specifically K-12 education, as its primary area of interest. We believe all children deserve access to and the opportunities of a great public education, one that prepares them to succeed in college and in life. This is the most important initiative of the foundation, receiving the largest amount of funding of all our strategic portfolios.
Our secondary portfolios include:
* Danbury Area
* Land Conservation
* Science & Scouts
* Program-Related Investments
While these portfolios receive smaller amounts of funding, they are important in helping PCLB to achieve its goals in each of these areas of interest and are no less valued than our initiative on K-12 education. Wherever possible, they will complement our education initiative.
The Foundation also maintains a number of discretionary grants and selected project grants made in recognition of Board interests and family ties.
The Foundation does not accept unsolicited grant applications.
