Platform for Social Impact

Child poverty is the most visible sign of a society’s failure to address the needs and aspirations of its people – and a real menace to a country’s capacity for future wealth and development. Inadequate health services, lack of access to education, violent environments, among other indicators, point not only to unacceptable life conditions for children but also to a bleak future for generations to come.

Our goal is to change these conditions in Puerto Rico, so children and their families have the opportunities they deserve for wellbeing, economic security, education, and a healthy environment through social innovation. By social innovation, we refer to projects and initiatives that build solutions for issues of poverty, inequality, and diversity by using creative approaches either entrepreneurial, cultural, or any other approach.

The Platform for Social Impact (PSI) is a 501(c)(3) umbrella organization focused on family economic mobility in Puerto Rico. Our movement includes organizations such as the Boys & Girls Clubs of Puerto Rico, the Youth Development Institute, Vimenti, Project Makers, and Vidalus. Together we are a network of 600+ employees across 12 sites, 5 entities, and 1,000+ volunteer advocates. The federal advocacy work led by the Youth Development Institute alone has resulted in $2.5B deployed as direct payments to 200K+ families over the past two year.

PSI’s strategic goals are predicated on leveraging capital, along with strategic policy, program, and private capital partners, to blanket the island with the next generation of anti-poverty programs at scale.
