  • Mission

Our mission is to build a diverse and sustainable free software personal computing ecosystem.

    About Us

The GNOME Foundation is a US-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit supporting the GNOME Project — one of the world's leading open source desktop environments — and a broader ecosystem of free and open source software. We are a small, distributed organization working alongside a global community of volunteers and contractors to advance software freedom.

    Our programs include:

    • an annual program of community conferences
    • maintenance of GNOME's software development infrastructure
    • internships for those from disadvantaged backgrounds
    • a Fellowship program which supports community volunteers
    • travel sponsorship for community members

We also support a small number of mission-aligned fiscally sponsored projects.
