Our mission is to empower adolescent girls and young people with knowledge, confidence, skills, and opportunities to thrive through comprehensive sexual and reproductive health and rights education, mentorship, leadership development, menstrual health and hygiene initiatives, girls’ education, and community-led advocacy. We work with communities and partners to remove barriers, promote dignity and equality, prevent violence, and create opportunities for every girl to reach her full potential.

More About Us

Generation Guiders Community-Based Organization (CBO) is a youth- and community-led organization based in Githurai, Kenya, working to create a future where every girl is informed, confident, empowered, and able to realize her full potential.

We focus primarily on adolescent girls and young women, particularly those living in underserved and vulnerable communities. Our work addresses challenges affecting girls’ education, health, dignity, safety, leadership, and participation in community development.

Our key areas of work include Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR), menstrual health and hygiene, girls’ education and empowerment, peer education, prevention of sexual and gender-based violence (SGBV), youth leadership, community engagement, and advocacy.

Through initiatives such as Tulia Girls School Clubs, our Peer Educator Programme, Menstrual Health and Hygiene Initiative, community outreach, and community theatre for change, we create safe spaces where girls and young people can access accurate information, develop leadership skills, build confidence, and speak up about issues affecting their lives.

Whom We Serve

We work with adolescent girls, young women, students, youth, parents, schools, and wider communities, with particular attention to individuals and communities facing barriers to education, healthcare, information, and opportunities.

Our programmes currently reach communities in and around Githurai, Zimmerman, Kahawa West, Mwiki, and Roysambu, while working with schools, community groups, health facilities, volunteers, and partner organizations to extend our impact.

Our Approach

We believe that young people are not simply beneficiaries of development—they are leaders, changemakers, and partners in creating solutions. We therefore use participatory approaches that enable girls and young people to share their experiences, build their skills, participate in decision-making, and become advocates within their communities.

We also believe in the power of volunteers and partnerships. Volunteers bring valuable skills, ideas, cultural perspectives, and energy that can strengthen our programmes and help us reach more young people. We welcome individuals who are passionate about girls’ empowerment, youth development, education, SRHR, community health, advocacy, communications, fundraising, research, and social change.

By working together with volunteers, community members, schools, partners, and other organizations, Generation Guiders is building a movement of informed, confident, and empowered young people who can create positive change in their communities.
