SandCastles, a division of Henry Ford Hospice, is a grief support program that offers peer support for children and teens who have experienced a death. We provide a safe environment where children can share and be with someone who is going through the same thing that they are.
We at SandCastles believe that every child and teen deserves the opportunity to grieve in a supportive, nurturing environment. Grieving children and teens are offered a special place where they can interact with peers who have experienced similar losses, learn life-long coping skills and most importantly, begin a healthy healing process. Support groups for children and teens ages 3 to 18 and their parents/guardians are offered twice monthly, in the evening at the following locations: Rochester, St. Clair Shores, West Bloomfield, and Virtually over Zoom. Other services areas include: Detroit, Livonia, and Clinton Twp.
We also offer a SandCastles Community where families can participate in one-time special events, programming, and experiences both virtually and in-person. In addition to our year long program, SandCastles also offers an overnight three-day, two-night bereavement camp which is usually held once a year in August for children and teens in grades two through twelve.
