    Description

    SandCastles Grief Support Group Facilitator

    Come Join The SandCastles Team!

SandCastles, a grief support program for children, teens, and their families offered through Henry Ford Hospice, seeks volunteers for its Detroit, Rochester, St. Clair Shores, and West Bloomfield sites as well as for our virtual groups and our SandCastles Camp.

SandCastles provides a supportive environment for children and teens, ages 3 to 18, and their families who have experienced the death of a loved one. Families come together for nurturing and strength as they journey through their world of grief. Responsibilities include facilitating groups for children and teens who have experienced the death of a loved one.

Facilitators participate in the briefing/de-briefing sessions and assist with the set-up and tear down of their group's room and volcano room. The commitment for facilitators is twice per month from 5:30 p.m. until 9:30 p.m. (for in-person programming) and from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. for our virtual groups.

SandCastles Camp 2026 is August 14th-16th at Camp Tamarack in Ortonville, MI.

All facilitators are required to attend our comprehensive training as well as periodic in-services that are planned to meet the educational needs of our volunteers. SandCastles Volunteers have a willingness to work with children and their families under the SandCastles Philosophy and Policies (as learned during the volunteer training).

When you volunteer for SandCastles, you truly make a difference in the lives of the children, teens, and families you serve!
