  • Mission

Front Door Communities is committed to feeding vulnerable, low-income and at-risk men, women and families in downtown San Jose regardless of their circumstances by providing nutritious meals and basic essentials for survival. We are dedicated to restoring dignity to the people we serve while improving the health and well-being of our community.

    About Us

Front Door Communities provides essential services to unhoused men and women in our community. We serve some of the most vulnerable, including seniors and vets, living in downtown San Jose. We believe in treating everyone with warmth and compassion.

Our lunch bag program serves clients three mornings a week. Our bag lunches include either breakfast burritos, tacos or a sandwich along with healthy snack and a beverage. Depending on the day of the week, we also distribute new socks, hygiene kits, clothing, and offer food pantry.

We are also a drop-in center for unhoused women three afternoons a week. We are NOT a shelter. Our Lifted Spirits program offers women respite from the streets, and a quiet place to rest, enjoy a meal and use a computer. In addition, our signature boutique provides women with a choice of clothing, adding the normalcy of the shopping experience at no cost.
