    About Mentor A Promise

    Mentor A Promise (MAP) is a New York City–based nonprofit dedicated to empowering youth experiencing housing instability through mentorship, education, and community. As the organization grows, strong executive coordination is essential to ensure clarity, alignment, and effective execution across all divisions.

    About the Executive Office | Leadership & Strategy

    The Executive Office supports organizational leadership, strategic execution, and cross-functional alignment. The office ensures that priorities are clearly defined, communication flows effectively, and leadership decisions translate into action across the organization.

    Role Overview

    We are seeking an Assistant Chief of Staff to support the Chief of Staff in managing executive priorities, coordinating leadership operations, and ensuring organizational alignment.

    This role plays a critical function in supporting decision-making, tracking priorities, and maintaining operational clarity across leadership and teams.

    Key Responsibilities

    Executive Coordination

    • Support the Chief of Staff in managing day-to-day executive priorities
    • Assist in coordinating communication across the Executive Director and senior leadership
    • Ensure follow-up on key decisions and leadership directives

    Strategic Execution & Tracking

    • Track organizational priorities, initiatives, and deliverables
    • Support development of timelines, workplans, and execution frameworks
    • Ensure alignment between strategy and implementation

    Leadership Operations

    • Support preparation for leadership meetings (agendas, notes, action items)
    • Document decisions and ensure accountability for follow-through
    • Maintain organized records of leadership discussions and priorities

    Cross-Functional Alignment

    • Coordinate across departments to ensure clarity and consistency
    • Help identify gaps, bottlenecks, and misalignment across teams
    • Support communication between divisions

    Systems & Process Support

    • Assist in building and maintaining operational systems and workflows
    • Support documentation of processes, priorities, and updates
    • Help improve efficiency across leadership operations

    Communication & Responsiveness

    • Maintain clear, timely, and professional communication across teams
    • Support internal communication flow between leadership and staff
    • Maintain timely responsiveness via Google Workspace

    Qualifications

    Required

    • Strong organizational and coordination skills
    • Ability to manage multiple priorities and track complex workflows
    • Strong communication and writing skills
    • High level of professionalism, discretion, and attention to detail
    • Alignment with MAP’s mission and dignity-centered values

    Preferred

    • Experience in operations, executive support, or program coordination
    • Experience working with leadership teams or in fast-paced environments
    • Strong problem-solving and systems-thinking abilities
    • Ability to anticipate needs and proactively support execution

    Commitment

    • Volunteer role
    • Approximately 5–10 hours per week
    • Minimum 6-month commitment preferred
    • Hybrid / remote with optional NYC-based collaboration
