    Must attend in person winter training or be added to list for upcoming training session. Winter Training 2026 Thursday 2/19 Tuesday 2/24, and Thursday 2/26. All session will meet from 5:00-7:30 pm

    Description

    Adult Education Volunteer

    We are looking for volunteer to assist at The Literacy Council of Norristown in the following areas.

    • Pre-GED Tutor
    • GED en Espanol Tutor
    • Adult Basic Education Tutor

    Potential tutors attend 3 training sessions. We provide support for tutors and learners as they develop learning plans and start on their learning journeys. While tutor training is in person - there virtual opportunities to work with a student, but they are limited

    What makes a good tutor for adult learners?

    Must be at least 18 years old

    Have a solid command of English (speaking, listening, reading, and writing), and be able to be easily understood

    Have the ability to communicate clearly

    Be patient, flexible, and supportive

    Have sensitivity to other backgrounds and cultures
