    Description

    Middle School Math Tutor Volunteer

    Volunteer Middle School Math Tutor

    Help a young person build skills, confidence, and momentum.

    Harlem Commonwealth Council (HCC) is seeking enthusiastic volunteer Math Tutors to help Harlem middle school students strengthen foundational skills, tackle challenging concepts, and see themselves as capable, confident learners. Your time and encouragement can make a lasting difference in a student's academic journey.

    Program Year

    Fall 2026 - June 2027

    Schedule

    Saturdays, 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM

    Students

    Grades 6-8

    Location

    Harlem; exact location shared during onboarding

    Commitment

    Minimum of 8 weeks

    How You Will Make an Impact

    • Provide engaging one-on-one or small-group math support
    • Reinforce fractions, decimals, ratios, pre-algebra, and problem-solving
    • Assist with assignments and targeted skill-building activities
    • Encourage positive learning habits, persistence, and academic confidence
    • Be a dependable mentor and supportive role model

    Who We Are Looking For

    • College students, educators, professionals, and community members are encouraged to apply
    • Comfortable with middle school-level math
    • Patient, encouraging, dependable, and ready to connect with young people
    • Tutoring or youth-development experience is a plus, but not required

    Students thrive when trusted adults show up consistently. To support strong relationships, steady academic progress, and program success, volunteers are asked to make a minimum eight-week commitment.
