    Description

Pine Rockland Restoration for MLK Day of Service

On Martin Luther King Jr. Day, join the EEL Program and South Dade NAACP as we serve South Florida’s beautiful natural environment. This workday at Florida City Pineland is focused on maintenance of the Black Forest lining the preserve. The Black Forest is a public artwork and living monument of trees honoring the Black lives lost to COVID-19 in the United States. Read more about the Black Forest Project here (https://www.media.mit.edu/projects/blackforest/overview/). The monument of trees must be pruned, mulched, and maintained so healthy and beautiful street trees can grow.
