    Description

Rehoming Program Partner — Work Directly With the Executive Director

Legacy Paws Rescue is looking for a hands-on Rehoming Program Partner to work directly with our Executive Director to help dogs stay with the people who love them whenever possible—and find safe, thoughtful new homes when staying together isn't an option. This is a collaborative role focused on working through real situations with families, identifying solutions, and making sure dogs don't fall through the cracks.

We believe surrender shouldn't always be the first answer. Sometimes families need resources, guidance, or a little help getting through a difficult situation. When keeping a dog truly isn't possible, we want to make rehoming a supported process, not a desperate last-minute decision.

You'll collaborate with the ED to assess each family's circumstances, explore ways to keep the dog in the home when appropriate, connect people with helpful resources, and coordinate owner-supported rehoming when needed. That may mean helping an owner foster their own dog while we work to find the right home, recruiting a foster when that's not possible, and thoughtfully matching dogs with potential adopters. You'll help manage communication, follow up with families, and work through the messy middle when plans change or challenges arise.

We're looking for someone compassionate but practical, comfortable having honest conversations, solving problems, coordinating details, and following through. Someone who understands that helping a dog sometimes means helping the human on the other end of the leash, too.

If you believe families deserve support instead of judgment and dogs deserve more than being passed from one situation to another, we'd love to build this program with you.
