Minimum age is 9 with adult and 14+ on own. Orientation is required for anyone doing required community service hours for class requirements, graduation requirements, and court-ordered hours.
Description
Hunger and food insecurity continue to rise in Arizona. Lack of proper nutrition leads to permanent, life-altering illnesses. Our kitchen prepares 7,000+ nutritional meals every day, providing meals to all four St. Vincent de Paul Dining Rooms and over 35 partner social services agencies.
Tasks include:
- Learning knife skills and safety while chopping vegetables, fruits, and meat
- Opening cans
- Washing and processing produce from the Urban Farms
- Panning out frozen foods
- Packaging food
- Making sandwiches and sack lunches
- Assembling salads
- Cleaning up the kitchen
