    Description

Digital Media & Creator Partnerships Lead

    The Porter Voice Collective

The Porter Voice Collective (PVC) is a global nonprofit working to advance workforce equity and human rights across the mountain tourism industry.

Working across Nepal, Peru, Tanzania and beyond, PVC uses storytelling, research, advocacy and media to elevate the voices of porters, guides and other mountain tourism workers and to challenge inequities within the global trekking and adventure travel industry.

We are looking for a Digital Media & Creator Partnerships Lead to help expand the reach and influence of that work.

This is not primarily a social media posting role.

We are looking for someone interested in understanding how a mission-driven organization can strategically use digital platforms, creators, partnerships and media to build an international audience and turn storytelling into meaningful awareness and action.

    What you’ll work on

Working alongside PVC’s Marketing Committee and wider volunteer team, you will help develop and execute our digital media and audience-growth strategy.

    Your work may include:

    • Identifying and developing relationships with creators, photographers, filmmakers, athletes, adventurers, travel professionals and advocates whose audiences align with PVC’s mission
    • Developing and managing creator and influencer outreach campaigns
    • Identifying opportunities for collaborations, content partnerships, podcast appearances, cross-promotion and earned media
    • Helping PVC build a structured creator and media contact network
    • Optimizing PVC’s presence across platforms including Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube and emerging channels
    • Identifying opportunities to improve the discoverability, distribution and performance of PVC’s existing stories, films, podcasts and educational content
    • Working with analytics support to understand what content and distribution strategies are driving meaningful audience growth
    • Helping translate PVC’s research, advocacy and field initiatives into digital campaigns that can reach audiences beyond the nonprofit sector
    • Exploring partnerships with organizations and communities across adventure travel, outdoor recreation, responsible tourism, international development and social impact
    • Contributing ideas for campaigns around major PVC initiatives, including Workforce Equity Tourism and the Himalayan Women Trail Leaders Initiative
    • Helping develop systems and processes so PVC’s media outreach becomes increasingly organized, measurable and scalable

There is room to shape the position around the successful candidate’s particular interests and strengths.

    Who we’re looking for

This opportunity could suit a graduate student, recent graduate or early-career professional interested in areas such as:

    • Digital media and communications
    • Creator or influencer marketing
    • International development
    • Sustainable or responsible tourism
    • Nonprofit communications
    • Journalism and documentary media
    • Public relations
    • Social impact
    • Outdoor and adventure industries
    • Human rights, gender equity or labor rights

You do not need to have experience in all of these areas.

More important is curiosity about how modern media and digital communities can be used to advance a social mission.

We would particularly value someone who:

    • Understands how creators and online communities build audiences
    • Is comfortable proactively reaching out to people and organizations
    • Can identify interesting partnership opportunities rather than simply waiting for instructions
    • Has strong written communication skills
    • Is organized and able to manage outreach and relationships
    • Thinks strategically about audiences, platforms and distribution
    • Is interested in experimenting, learning and taking ownership of projects
    • Has a genuine interest in PVC’s mission and in more equitable forms of tourism

Experience with creator partnerships, social media strategy, digital marketing, communications, PR, journalism or nonprofit advocacy is useful, but not required.

    What you’ll gain

This is an opportunity to take meaningful ownership of digital media development within a growing international nonprofit rather than simply completing administrative marketing tasks.

    You’ll gain practical experience in:

    • Creator and influencer partnerships
    • Digital media strategy
    • International nonprofit communications
    • Audience development
    • Partnership development
    • Campaign strategy
    • Media outreach
    • Social-impact storytelling
    • Responsible and equitable tourism

You’ll also work with an international network of people spanning tourism, international development, advocacy, research, media and marketing.

Where appropriate, PVC can work with universities to support students completing internships, practicums or experience requirements.

    Commitment

Approximately 5–8 hours per week, remotely, with flexibility around studies or employment.

We are ideally looking for someone able to commit for at least 4–6 months, allowing enough time to take ownership of projects and see campaigns develop.

Applicants can be based anywhere in the world.

    About Porter Voice Collective

Our work spans storytelling, documentary media, research, education, advocacy and workforce development across some of the world’s most important trekking regions.

If you’re interested in the intersection of media, travel, international development and social impact, we’d love to hear from you.
