Welcome Seniors During Their First 90-Minute Visit at Glenner Center in Chula Vista
Details
Description
The George G. Glenner Alzheimer’s Family Centers, Inc.® is looking for caring, friendly volunteers to help welcome seniors during their 90-minute trial visit at one of our specialized adult day centers. This visit usually takes place while a senior and their family are learning more about our program and completing the assessment and onboarding process.
Your warm welcome can help a new senior feel more comfortable, supported, and included from the moment they arrive.
What You’ll Do
As a 90-minute visit greeter and companion, you will help create a positive first impression by offering friendly companionship and gentle support. Volunteers may:
- Review basic information before the senior arrives so you are prepared to greet them warmly
- Welcome the seniors and help them feel comfortable in the center
- Walk with them, talk with them, and offer friendly conversation
- Introducing them to staff, attendees, and the center environment
- Help them feel included while they adjust to the visit
- Support a calm and welcoming experience during their time with us
This is a meaningful opportunity to make someone’s first visit feel less overwhelming and more personal.
Who We’re Hoping to Find
We’d love to meet volunteers who:
- Are kind, patient, and comfortable spending time with older adults
- Enjoy friendly conversation and helping people feel welcome
- Are 16+; volunteers under 18 must volunteer with an adult
- Can commit to at least 3 hours a month for a minimum of six months
- Are willing to complete the volunteer onboarding steps before serving
Where and When
This opportunity is available Monday through Friday at our center in Chula Vista, CA. Schedules are flexible based on center needs and volunteer availability.
