    Volunteer Treasurer & Tax Coordinator

    Sarasota Scullers is seeking a detail‑oriented and dependable Volunteer Treasurer & Tax Coordinator to help ensure the organization’s financial systems are accurate, compliant, and well‑managed. This volunteer plays a critical role in supporting a youth rowing nonprofit serving athletes ages 10 through high school.

    The volunteer will oversee our bookkeeping and financial reporting processes, working with our existing finance software to keep records organized, transparent, and up to date. This role also includes preparing and filing required tax documents and supporting regular financial reporting for leadership.

    Responsibilities include:

    • Maintaining and reviewing financial records using QuickBooks and Stripe
    • Monitoring income, expenses, and account balances to ensure accuracy and consistency
    • Preparing regular financial reports for organizational leadership (e.g., monthly or quarterly summaries)
    • Coordinating and filing required nonprofit tax forms and annual reports
    • Supporting budget tracking and basic financial forecasting
    • Advising leadership on financial best practices and internal controls
    • Ensuring sound financial stewardship in alignment with nonprofit requirements

    Qualifications and experience:

    • Background in accounting, finance, or bookkeeping (professional or equivalent volunteer experience)
    • Experience with QuickBooks and/or Stripe strongly preferred
    • Familiarity with nonprofit financial practices and tax filings (e.g., Form 990) is highly desirable
    • Strong attention to detail, organization, and reliability
    • Ability to work independently and communicate clearly with board members or staff
    • Retired or senior finance professionals are especially encouraged to apply

    Time commitment:

    • Flexible; estimated 5-7 hours per month
    • Mix of recurring tasks and periodic reporting
    • Mostly remote work with occasional coordination meetings as needed
