Heroes’ Anchor is a newly established 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to strengthening children and families of military members, veterans, first responders, and emergency medical personnel through community-centered, restorative, and leadership-focused programming. As we continue building our foundational governance and leadership structure, we are seeking a Volunteer Vice President to serve as a key officer of the organization.

This is a voluntary, unpaid board officer position designed for an individual who values collaborative leadership, organizational continuity, and mission-driven service. The Vice President works closely with the Board President, Board of Directors, and Chief Executive Officer to support governance effectiveness, assist with strategic initiatives, and ensure leadership continuity as Heroes’ Anchor grows.

    • Step in to assume presidential duties when necessary to ensure continuity
    • Assist with board initiatives, committees, and special projects
    • Promote collaboration, accountability, and effective communication among board members
    • Support adherence to governance best practices and fiduciary responsibilities
    • Provide steady, values-driven leadership during the organization’s formative stage

    Ideal Candidate

We are seeking a candidate who:

    • Has prior leadership, governance, or board experience (nonprofit experience preferred but not required)
    • Demonstrates strong collaborative and support-oriented leadership skills
    • Is comfortable operating as a second-in-command and strengthening leadership effectiveness without overstepping authority
    • Brings sound judgment, reliability, and a willingness to step in when needed
    • Is aligned with the mission of supporting families of those who serve

    Time Commitment

This role requires a modest but consistent time commitment, including participation in scheduled board meetings, committee work, and periodic collaboration with organizational leadership. Specific expectations will be discussed during the selection process.
