Role Summary:

The Enhanced Rock Weathering Expert will provide technical and scientific expertise in enhanced rock weathering (ERW) as a carbon dioxide removal strategy. This role supports the design, evaluation, and implementation of ERW initiatives to accelerate carbon sequestration, improve soil health, and contribute to climate mitigation efforts aligned with the organization’s mission.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide expertise on enhanced rock weathering processes, including mineral selection, application methods, and geochemical interactions.
• Support the design and implementation of ERW projects across agricultural or land-based systems.
• Analyze environmental and geochemical data to assess carbon sequestration potential and impact.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate ERW solutions into broader climate and sustainability programs.
• Identify risks, uncertainties, and opportunities related to ERW deployment, monitoring, and scalability.

Requirements:

• Proven experience in geochemistry, soil science, environmental science, or a related field with relevance to enhanced rock weathering.
• Strong understanding of carbon dioxide removal (CDR) pathways and geochemical carbon cycles.
• Familiarity with field applications, monitoring, and data analysis for ERW or similar systems.
• Ability to interpret and communicate complex scientific data effectively.

Preferred Skills:

• Experience with lifecycle assessment and carbon accounting methodologies.
• Familiarity with agricultural systems, land management, or climate mitigation strategies.
• Experience working on nonprofit or mission-driven environmental projects.
