Volunteer Opportunity: Companion Volunteer
Location: Portland/Gresham Area, OR

Volunteer Role: Companion Volunteer
We are seeking a caring and patient volunteer to provide companionship and social connection for an older adult living in a memory care setting.
The participant benefits from quiet social interaction and may communicate nonverbally at times. A volunteer who enjoys spending time outdoors, talking about books, sharing simple activities, or offering a calm and friendly presence would be a wonderful match.
Volunteer Activities May Include:
- Providing companionship through regular visits
- Engaging in simple conversations and social interaction
- Reading aloud or sharing books and stories
- Accompanying the participant on short outdoor walks or enjoying outdoor settings when appropriate
- Offering a supportive and friendly presence
Volunteer Qualifications:
- Patient, compassionate, and dependable
- Comfortable interacting with older adults experiencing communication or memory challenges
- Able to engage respectfully using verbal and nonverbal communication
- Complete Providence volunteer onboarding requirements
