Volunteer Course Reviewer: Take Our Free Online Courses and Tell Us How They Feel
Details
Description
Lumoset Foundation makes free online courses that help everyday people stay safe from scams and feel more confident using technology. Our learners are often older adults, caregivers, and people who are newer to being online. Everything we make is free, with no account, no paywall, and no catch.
We now have 25 courses live, and before more people find them we need to know how they actually feel to take. We built them, so we can no longer see them clearly. That is where you come in.
What you would do
Take one of our free courses the way a normal person would, then fill out a short feedback form, about five minutes. You will give the course a star rating for how easy it was to use and tell us what worked, what confused you, and anything that did not load properly on your device. That is the whole job.
Choose your level
Our courses run in three levels, and you can pick whichever fits you:
Level 1 covers the basics: spotting scams, email and passwords, smartphones, video calls, online banking, telehealth, AI tools, and finding legitimate work online. If you are still getting comfortable with technology yourself, this is where your feedback is most valuable.
Level 2 goes deeper into each topic, for people who already know the basics.
Level 3 is for confident users, covering things like recovering after a scam, deepfakes, credit freezes, and helping a family member get set up safely.
Do one level, do all three, or just do a single course. Take as long as you want. There is no quota and no deadline.
What we need from you
Your honest reaction. Whatever star rating you give is the right one. Please do not adjust it for us in either direction, because a rating that is not real is no use to anyone.
The written comments matter just as much as the stars, so be specific. "Lesson 3 lost me when it started talking about two-factor codes" tells us far more than a score on its own.
Why this matters
The people who take these courses are often the ones being targeted hardest by scams, and many of them have nobody to ask when something confuses them. If a lesson trips you up, it will stop them, and they may not come back. Every piece of feedback you give changes what the next person sees. This is one of the few volunteer roles where you can point at exactly what you improved.
Who this is for
Anyone willing to take a course and be honest about it. Retirees, caregivers, students, teachers, librarians, or someone who has helped a parent stay safe online. No tech background needed. You will need a computer, tablet, or smartphone and an internet connection.
What you get
This is an unpaid volunteer role, but your work is real and it ships. We log your volunteer hours, and we are glad to write you a reference letter describing what you actually did.
This can be a one time thing, and that is completely fine. If you enjoy it and want to keep going, we usually have other work we can offer.
Lumoset teaches general safety and digital skills only. We never give individual legal, financial, or medical advice. Everything we make is, and always will be, free.
