Description
Be the Reason Someone Smiles Today.
A Serene Healthcare Services | Stafford, TX
Sometimes, the Greatest Gift You Can Give Is Your Time.
Imagine making someone's day brighter simply by showing up.
A friendly conversation. A familiar smile. Listening to a favorite story. Sitting beside someone so they don't feel alone.
These small moments can mean everything.
At A Serene Healthcare Services, we believe compassionate hospice care goes beyond medical treatment. It's about dignity, connection, comfort, and making every moment matter.
We're looking for kindhearted, dependable individuals to join our volunteer team and provide companionship and emotional support to hospice patients and their families throughout the Greater Houston area.
You don't need a medical background or previous hospice experience. Just compassion, patience, reliability, and a genuine desire to make a difference.
We'll provide the training and guidance. You bring the heart.
What You'll Do
As a Patient Companionship Volunteer, you may:
- Spend meaningful one-on-one time with hospice patients.
- Offer friendly conversation, companionship, and a listening ear.
- Read books, magazines, poetry, or inspirational materials.
- Play cards, board games, or participate in simple activities.
- Listen to music or share favorite songs.
- Help patients enjoy hobbies and activities appropriate to their abilities.
- Provide a calming, reassuring presence.
- Offer companionship to individuals who may feel isolated or lonely.
- Provide emotional support through conversation and attentive listening.
- Offer a comforting presence while family caregivers take a brief break, when approved and appropriate.
Every patient is different. Your volunteer assignment will be thoughtfully matched to individual needs, interests, comfort levels, and your availability.
Sometimes, simply being there is enough.

- Able to maintain confidentiality and professional boundaries.
- Willing to learn about hospice care and end-of-life support.
Previous healthcare experience is not required.

We work to match volunteers with opportunities based on their availability and patient needs.
Depending on current assignments, opportunities may include weekday or weekend visits and recurring companionship assignments.
We value consistency, but you don't need to volunteer every day to make an impact.
