    Description

Volunteer Reels & Social Media Video Editor – Help Amplify Women’s Voices in Mountain Tourism

The Porter Voice Collective (PVC) is seeking a creative and mission-driven Volunteer Reels & Social Media Video Editor to help us tell compelling stories through short-form video.

PVC is a nonprofit organization working to elevate the voices, dignity, and leadership of marginalized workers in the outdoor and tourism industries. Through storytelling, advocacy, and programs such as the Himalayan Women Trail Leaders Initiative (HWTL), we work to create greater equity in mountain tourism and beyond.

    About the Role

We’re looking for someone who enjoys turning raw footage, interviews, photos, and stories into engaging Instagram Reels, YouTube Shorts, and other social media videos.

You’ll work with our team to create short-form content that brings our work to life and helps us reach a broader audience.

    What You’ll Do

    • Edit short-form videos for Instagram Reels, TikTok, YouTube Shorts, and other platforms
    • Turn raw footage and interviews into compelling, concise stories
    • Add captions, text overlays, music, transitions, and other appropriate elements
    • Help develop creative approaches for social media storytelling
    • Adapt videos for different platforms and formats
    • Collaborate with our team on content ideas and storytelling
    • Maintain a consistent visual style aligned with PVC's brand and mission

    What We’re Looking For

You don’t need to be a professional filmmaker. We’re looking for someone who:

    • Has experience editing short-form social media video
    • Understands what makes Reels and other short-form content engaging
    • Has a good eye for pacing, storytelling, and visual composition
    • Can work independently and meet agreed-upon deadlines
    • Is comfortable using video editing software such as CapCut, Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, DaVinci Resolve, Canva, or similar tools
    • Is passionate about social justice, gender equity, ethical tourism, outdoor recreation, or related issues

Experience creating Instagram Reels, TikToks, or YouTube Shorts is especially helpful.

    Time Commitment

Approximately 3–5 hours per week, depending on content needs and availability. This is a remote volunteer position with flexibility in scheduling. Minimum commitment of 4 months required.

    Why Volunteer With Us?

This is an opportunity to use your creative skills to support a nonprofit whose work centers the voices and experiences of people who are often overlooked in the tourism and outdoor industries.

    Your videos will help us:

    • Amplify the voices of women trekking guides and other outdoor workers
    • Share stories from mountain communities
    • Promote programs and initiatives advancing workforce equity
    • Build awareness of ethical and community-centered tourism
    • Grow our nonprofit's digital presence and reach

You’ll also have the opportunity to build your portfolio with meaningful social-impact storytelling and collaborate with an international team working across mountain tourism, gender equity, and human rights.

    How to Apply

Please submit your resume or brief description of your experience, along with links to 2–3 examples of short-form videos you have edited.

Tell us briefly why you’re interested in supporting The Porter Voice Collective and our mission.

This is an unpaid volunteer position.
