    Location: Remote (Candidate must reside in British Columbia)

    The Opportunity

    Al-Ihsan Canadian Islamic University is seeking a distinguished scholar and administrative leader to serve as University Secretary. This is a foundational executive role tasked with establishing the academic and administrative framework for our British Columbia incorporation and maintaining our institutional integrity.

    As we build a world-class institution for authentic Islamic scholarship, we require a Secretary who possesses deep academic expertise and the administrative precision required to manage a higher education non-profit while upholding the highest standards of Amanah (trust) and Ihsan (excellence).

    Key Responsibilities

    • Governance & Compliance: Lead the documentation and administrative registration required for both BC provincial and federal Canadian incorporation, ensuring bylaws and institutional records meet all regulatory standards.
    • Academic Record Management: Design and oversee the university’s registrar systems, ensuring the integrity of academic transcripts, enrollment data, and faculty records.
    • Board Coordination: Manage the proceedings of the Executive Board of Canadian Scholars, including drafting official minutes, maintaining the corporate seal, and tracking the implementation of board resolutions.
    • CRA & Educational Compliance: Oversee the administrative aspects of the university's status with the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) and the BC Ministry of Post-Secondary Education and Future Skills.
    • Policy Development: Collaborate with executive leadership to draft and implement robust institutional policies, faculty handbooks, and student codes of conduct.

    Qualifications

    • Education: A PhD in Islamic Studies from a prestigious, internationally recognized university is mandatory.
    • Residency: Must be a Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident currently residing in British Columbia.
    • Expertise: Demonstrated experience in academic administration or governance within a higher education or complex non-profit setting.
    • Communication: Exceptional command of English; proficiency in Arabic is highly desirable for academic context.
    • Commitment: A deep-seated commitment to establishing authentic Islamic higher education within the Canadian legal framework.
