Milwaukee Empowerment & Leadership Initiative (MELI), Inc. is a Milwaukee-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering youth and young adults through leadership development, mentorship, education, and meaningful community connections.
As MELI enters its next stage of growth and continues developing the MELI Future Leader Academy, we are expanding our Board of Directors and seeking committed leaders for four positions:
Vice President
A strategic leadership partner who will support the President and Board in advancing MELI's mission, governance, organizational priorities, partnerships, and resource development.
Director of Fundraising & Resource Development
Help strengthen MELI's fundraising strategy and expand opportunities involving grants, sponsorships, donors, corporate giving, and other resources.
Director of Programs & Youth Development
Help guide the continued development and implementation of MELI's youth programming, including the MELI Future Leader Academy. Experience in youth development, education, mentoring, workforce development, curriculum/program development, or related areas is especially valuable.
Director of Community Engagement & Strategic Partnerships
Help expand MELI's relationships with schools, youth organizations, businesses, nonprofits, employers, community leaders, and other strategic partners. Strong Milwaukee-area relationships are especially valuable for this position.
What We're Looking For
MELI is a working Board. We are not simply looking for individuals to attend meetings or hold a title. Board members are expected to actively contribute their expertise, participate in Board and committee work, follow through on commitments, help build relationships and resources, and support MELI's strategic priorities.
Prior nonprofit Board experience is valuable, but not required. We welcome individuals who bring relevant professional expertise, community experience, relationships, and a genuine commitment to helping young people thrive.
Location
MELI serves youth and young adults in the Milwaukee community. Board candidates do not necessarily need to reside in Milwaukee to bring value to our work; however, candidates should understand and support our Milwaukee-focused mission. Local relationships are particularly valuable for community engagement and partnership development.
Board Service
Board service is voluntary. Directors serve two-year terms and participate in Board meetings, committee work, and responsibilities between meetings.
