    Description

Volunteer Board Secretary | Justice for James Irby Sr. Foundation | Remote

The Justice for James Irby Sr. Foundation is seeking an organized, dependable volunteer to serve as Board Secretary and help maintain clear, accurate governance records as the foundation grows.

Established in honor of James Anthony Irby Sr., the foundation begins with his unresolved case and is building programs to support other families affected by unsolved violent crimes. Strong governance is essential to earning and keeping those families’ trust.

    What you’ll do

    • Prepare board meeting notices, agendas, and materials with the president.
    • Attend virtual board meetings and record accurate minutes, motions, votes, and action items.
    • Maintain an organized record of approved minutes, resolutions, policies, and board decisions.
    • Track upcoming meetings and follow-up items.
    • Help ensure board members receive the information needed to prepare for decisions.
    • Protect confidential board and case-related information.

    Who we’re looking for

Someone with excellent organization, writing, and follow-through. Experience as a nonprofit board secretary, executive assistant, administrator, or records coordinator is helpful. You should be comfortable working with shared digital documents and documenting decisions without inserting personal opinions into the official record.

This is a governance role. The secretary records board actions; decisions are made through the foundation’s board process.

    Location: Remote

    Compensation: Unpaid volunteer position

Commitment: Attendance at scheduled virtual board meetings and reasonable preparation and follow-up between meetings
