SEVA Travelers has partnered with GlobalGiving to identify great nonprofits in low- and middle-income countries. Together we have reached out to almost a thousand NGOs in the Global South about our suite of pro bono consulting services and the possibility of hosting a SEVA Traveler. Thanks to this exciting partnership, S.E.V.A. SEVA Travelers offers host organizations to choose from across South Africa, spanning the bustling city of Cape Town, the cultural center of East London, and the vibrant communities of Mabopane and Sundays River Valley. These placements provide volunteers the opportunity to contribute to initiatives focused on youth empowerment, community development, education, and social entrepreneurship. Volunteers will collaborate with impactful nonprofits that are building long-term organizational capacity through fundraising strategy, grant writing, donor engagement, and communications development, all while experiencing South Africa’s rich history, diverse cultures, and breathtaking landscapes.

Africa Matters Initiative – Cape Town
A youth-led organization equipping young Africans with leadership, social impact, and entrepreneurship skills. Volunteers will help strengthen partnership development, fundraising strategy, and donor relations. Additional tasks may include refining communications materials, enhancing digital outreach, and supporting project documentation to increase the organization’s visibility and global reach.
Action Change (formerly GVI Trust) – Cape Town
A nonprofit focused on sustainable community development and conservation across Africa and globally. Volunteers will assist in developing fundraising strategies, improving donor engagement systems, and enhancing communications with partners and funders. They may also help identify new grant opportunities and support marketing campaigns for ongoing social and environmental projects.
Nyara Youth Development – East London
A nonprofit empowering young people through mentorship, education, and skill-building programs. Volunteers will support grant writing, donor research, and fundraising strategy while helping design communications materials and outreach initiatives to strengthen local engagement and expand impact.
Universal Promise – Sundays River Valley
A nonprofit dedicated to transforming education and opportunity in underserved South African communities. Volunteers will help design fundraising and partnership strategies, develop grant proposals, and improve storytelling and impact reporting to attract long-term donors and partners.
Ubunye Educare Centre – Cape Town
A community-based early childhood education center providing quality care and learning for young children. Volunteers will assist with fundraising, donor engagement, and communications strategies, helping to strengthen the center’s financial sustainability and visibility within the community.
Lesedi la Batho – Mabopane
A nonprofit empowering disadvantaged communities through education, skills development, and social outreach programs. Volunteers will contribute to fundraising, donor cultivation, and marketing strategy, while also helping to refine project documentation and communication materials to better showcase community impact.
