    Description

Chief of Staff – Volunteer Role

    Chief of Staff (CoS)

    The Donovan’s Venom

Remote (U.S. or Canada) | Executive Leadership | Volunteer

We’re Building — And Leadership Needs a Center of Gravity

The Donovan’s Venom is scaling a mission to expand access to fine arts and music education.

    But growth creates complexity.

    And complexity requires alignment.

We are seeking a Chief of Staff (CoS) to bring structure, coordination, and clarity to how leadership operates.

This is not an administrative role.

This is a force-multiplier role — designed to ensure that what leadership decides actually moves forward.

    The Role

The Chief of Staff sits at the center of leadership — ensuring priorities are clear, execution is aligned, and the organization moves as one.

You will partner directly with the Executive Director/CEO to translate vision into action, remove friction across teams, and ensure leadership operates effectively and efficiently.

    What You’ll Own

    Executive Alignment & Prioritization

      • Ensure leadership priorities are clear, focused, and actionable
      • Align executive time and attention with highest-impact work
      • Translate vision into structured initiatives and deliverables

    Strategic Execution & Follow-Through

      • Track progress across key initiatives and leadership priorities
      • Identify gaps, risks, and bottlenecks in execution
      • Ensure decisions turn into action — and action turns into results

    Cross-Functional Coordination

      • Serve as the connector across leadership (COO, CPO, CSO, CFO, etc.)
      • Break down silos and ensure teams are aligned
      • Drive clarity across timelines, ownership, and outcomes

    Executive Operations & Cadence

      • Build and manage leadership operating rhythms (meetings, reporting, planning)
      • Ensure meetings are structured, efficient, and outcome-driven
      • Track action items and hold teams accountable

    Communication & Leadership Support

      • Support executive communication, messaging, and alignment
      • Prepare briefings, updates, and materials for leadership
      • Ensure clarity across internal and external communications

    Organizational Effectiveness

      • Identify opportunities to improve how the organization operates
      • Support a culture of accountability, collaboration, and performance
      • Ensure the organization runs cohesively — not in silos

    Who This Is For

This role is for someone who:

      • Thrives in fast-moving, high-responsibility environments
      • Can see across the organization — not just within a function
      • Knows how to bring order to complexity
      • Is proactive, not reactive
      • Understands how to support leadership without slowing it down

    Qualifications

    Required

      • 3+ years in leadership, operations, or project/program management
      • Experience managing cross-functional initiatives
      • Strong organizational, communication, and execution skills

    Preferred

      • Experience supporting senior leadership or executive teams
      • Experience in nonprofit or mission-driven environments
      • Experience working in remote or distributed teams

    Commitment

      • 10–15 hours per week
      • Flexible schedule
      • Fully remote

    What You’ll Gain

      • Direct exposure to executive decision-making
      • Opportunity to shape how an organization operates at the leadership level
      • Experience working across strategy, operations, and leadership
      • High-impact, high-visibility role

    Application Requirements (Read Carefully)

We are actively building — not observing.

    To ensure alignment:

      • You must be able to start within 30 days
      • You must complete the full application process
      • You must be ready to contribute in an active leadership capacity

    Important Disclaimer

This is a volunteer leadership role.

We are onboarding individuals who are ready to contribute immediately.

Please only apply if you are prepared to begin within the next 30 days.
