    Podcast content translator & script writer

    The Porter Voice Collective is seeking a Nepali–English Translator and Script Writer to support the development of Season 1 of the Porter Voices Podcast, a storytelling platform dedicated to amplifying the voices of Nepali female trekking guides in the Himalayan tourism industry.

    This podcast aims to highlight the experiences, leadership, and challenges faced by women working as trekking guides in Nepal. Through ethical storytelling and narrative journalism, the project will help bring their stories to a global audience while advocating for gender equity and fair representation in mountain tourism.

    We especially encourage Nepali journalists, writers, students, and emerging storytellers who are fluent in Nepali and English to apply.

    This is a unique opportunity to work closely with grassroots voices from mountain communities while contributing to a meaningful storytelling initiative focused on social impact and workforce equity.

    Responsibilities

    • Transcribe Nepali-language audio interviews into English

    • Translate interviews while preserving cultural nuance and meaning

    • Develop clear and engaging podcast scripts based on interview transcripts

    • Ensure the scripts honor the authentic voices and lived experiences of Nepali female trekking guides

    • Collaborate with the podcast development team during the development of Season 1

    Qualifications

    • Fluency in

    Nepali and English (written and spoken)

    • Interest or experience in journalism, writing, translation, storytelling, or media

    • Strong listening, transcription, and writing skills

    • Interest in gender equity, social justice storytelling, and mountain communities

    • Familiarity with Nepal’s trekking industry is a plus but not required

    Students and early-career journalists are strongly encouraged to apply.
