Accessibility Developer (Web & Software) - Axe Core

We are seeking 3 volunteer Accessibility Developers to help make our web and software products usable for everyone, including people with disabilities. You'll help us identify, prioritize, and fix accessibility issues so our applications meet WCAG 2.1/2.2 standards and work well with assistive technologies like screen readers.

Responsibilities: Audit web and software interfaces for accessibility issues using automated tooling and manual testing; integrate axe-core (Deque's open-source accessibility engine) into our automated testing and CI/CD pipelines; remediate issues such as missing ARIA attributes, poor color contrast, keyboard navigation barriers, and missing alt text; document findings and recommend best practices for accessible coding; and collaborate with our developers and designers to build accessibility in from the start.

Qualifications: Experience with web development (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) and/or software development; familiarity with axe-core or similar accessibility testing tools such as Lighthouse, WAVE, or Pa11y; working knowledge of WCAG 2.1/2.2 guidelines and the ARIA specification; experience with assistive technologies (screen readers such as NVDA, JAWS, or VoiceOver) is a plus; and a passion for inclusive design and digital accessibility.
