    About Gender Freedom Society

Gender Freedom Society (GFS) is a 100% volunteer-run nonprofit dedicated to providing a safe, inclusive, and supportive community for transgender and gender-diverse individuals. Our mission is to foster education, advocacy, and peer support while ensuring access to vital resources.

    Role Overview

We are looking for a Help Desk Volunteer to provide basic IT support to our staff and volunteers. Since GFS operates entirely with volunteers, most members work after hours, so flexibility in response times is appreciated. The expected time commitment for this role is 1-3 hours per week at most.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Manage account creation, deactivation, and password resets for GFS systems.
    • Provide basic troubleshooting for:
      • Google Workspace (Gmail, Drive, Docs, etc.)
      • Microsoft 365 (O365)
      • Canva
      • WordPress (website management and updates)
      • WHM & cPanel (account and hosting management)
    • Respond to help desk inquiries in a timely and friendly manner, keeping in mind that most volunteers work after hours.
    • Document common technical issues and solutions for future reference.
    • Escalate complex technical issues when necessary.
    • Assist with training users on best practices for security and platform use.

    Qualifications

    • Familiarity with Google Workspace, Microsoft 365, Canva, WordPress, WHM/cPanel.
    • Basic troubleshooting skills for web hosting, email, and cloud-based applications.
    • Strong communication skills and ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical users.
    • Ability to work independently and maintain confidentiality.
    • Experience in IT support or help desk roles is a plus but not required.
    • Applicants should be based in North America

    • Help sustain a nonprofit that supports the transgender and gender-diverse community.
    • Gain hands-on experience in IT support and nonprofit operations.
