SEVA Travelers offers host organizations to choose from across Malaysia, providing volunteers the opportunity to contribute to initiatives focused on refugee support, animal welfare, ocean conservation, and community-based environmental programs. Volunteers will collaborate with impactful nonprofits that are building long-term organizational capacity through fundraising strategy, grant writing, donor engagement, and communications development, all while experiencing Malaysia’s diverse cultures, landscapes, and communities.
These vetted and verified NGOs include:
Fugee – Malaysia
A nonprofit supporting the refugee community in Malaysia, where legal protections for refugees are limited and public sentiment is often xenophobic. Additional support may include marketing and communications strategies to increase awareness and engagement internationally.
My Pets Haven – Malaysia
A volunteer-driven animal shelter caring for around 50 dogs and 10 cats. Volunteers will assist in improving volunteer recruitment processes, financial sustainability, and the adoption program to help more pets find loving homes. Additional support may include fundraising guidance, donor engagement, and operational management for day-to-day shelter activities.
Reef Check Malaysia – Malaysia
A marine conservation nonprofit focused on ocean and reef preservation. Volunteers will support the organization by identifying and building a database of international funders, philanthropic foundations, and family trusts, as well as designing Monitoring, Learning & Evaluation (MLE) systems to track project impact across Malaysia.
Bambusa Foundation – Lenggong, Perak
Focused on social forestry programs in a UNESCO World Heritage site. Volunteers will help strengthen the foundation’s community forestry initiatives, fundraising strategies, and donor engagement to ensure long-term program sustainability.
SPCA Kota Kinabalu – Sabah, Borneo
