We are training young adults in "Life Mastery" and the trades. We are looking for volunteers with construction/handiwork experience to volunteer to be another set of hands (and eyes) as we complete projects in the shop. Knowledge of tools is helpful but not necessary. Patience and a great can-do attitude would be great. If you are interested in investing some time in these young adults, please join us for a few weeks. The work is SO rewarding when our participants leave our program and enter the trades!
Our valuable volunteers in Fortitude’s shop experience play a hands-on role in reinforcing technical instruction while modeling professional standards on a jobsite. They support participants in developing core construction skills such as safe tool use, material handling, measurement, and basic build techniques, while emphasizing safety, teamwork, and attention to detail. Beyond technical guidance, volunteers help create a productive shop environment by encouraging accountability, work ethic, and problem-solving, ensuring that participants not only learn the skills, but also understand the expectations of a professional construction setting.
