Community Schools Volunteers fill crucial gaps in resources for Philadelphia students by handing out free groceries, tending to community gardens, serving as afterschool club leaders, hosting special events, and more.

Volunteer needs and schedules vary by school, but typical hours are between 8am-6pm on Mondays-Fridays. In accordance with school policies, many volunteer opportunities require background clearances. Some volunteers serve at multiple sites and in multiple programs, which others focus on one volunteer task at a specific school.

There are 20 Community Schools throughout the City, serving nearly 13,000 students! Our Schools are supported by the Mayor's Office of Education, the School District of Philadelphia, and strategic community partnerships to remove barriers to learning and promote student success inside and outside the classroom.
