    Illinois Single Payer Coalition

    Job Posting: Volunteer Board Member

    Start Date: ASAP

    Term: 2 Years

The Illinois Single Payer Coalition (ISPC) is a statewide community organizing coalition dedicated to winning guaranteed universal health care for all. We campaign for improved “Medicare for All” across the state of Illinois.

Right now, our health care system is failing due to federal funding cuts, and the collapse of the Affordable Care Act. The crisis is forcing some members of Congress to admit that we need to reverse course and pass Medicare for All. But to harness the opportunity in this moment, we need to organize aggressively, immediately.

    Role

ISPC seeks volunteer board members who would like to contribute to the organizing work, funding, and governance of ISPC. The ISPC Board meets We also collaborate on grassroots fundraising, mobilizing activists, growing our coalition, and determining our organizing strategy. Board members work directly with our Executive Director, and our fundraising consultant. Board members commit to attending every other month for a 90-minute meeting over Zoom (4-6 meetings per year), and participating in as many events, trainings, and Board working sessions as possible. We ask board members to meaningfully contribute their time, talent, treasure, and relationships to the organization, as your capacity, network, and skills allow. Board members also commit to representing ISPC positively publicly. Board members can be based anywhere in the state of Illinois, and participate virtually and locally. We strongly encourage women, people of color, and people of all ages to apply.

    Benefits

Board members collaborate and learn alongside a diverse group of organizers/activists, who have decades of experience in labor, community and issue organizing, and come from a wide variety of professional backgounds. Board members have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in organizing, relationship building, nonprofit leadership, strategic planning, fundraising, leading events/trainings, and more. Students and young professionals, and those seeking to enter the nonprofit/community organizing field are strongly encouraged to apply as Board membership presents excellent professional development opportunities.
