    Description

Remote · Flexible hours · Project Hub #4 · Focus: internet infrastructure, technical writing

NTARI intends to win .ntari — its own top-level domain — in ICANN's next application round (planning window 2029–2031), so that a name ending in .ntari becomes a DNS-level signal that a project runs conformant, publicly maintained software. The strategy is patient and grant-honest: no funder buys TLDs, but funders do support the open-source registry tooling, conformance infrastructure, and research that surround one — which frees NTARI's own funds to build a $100,000 reserve by the end of 2028. ICANN's Applicant Support Program cut the last round's $227,000 fee to roughly $34,000–57,000 for qualified nonprofits, and NTARI applies only with that support in hand.

Your first target is concrete: NLnet's open-internet-infrastructure call, deadline November 3, 2026, pitching an open-source registry toolchain any project can reuse. Behind it sit NSF's open-source ecosystems program (2027 cycle) and the Internet Society Foundation's research grants.

Strong fit for a writer comfortable with technical material — you'll have the complete runway plan (cost model, phases, risks) at your side, plus peer review through NTARI's Slack grant desk before anything is submitted.
