    Description

    Gift Shop Volunteer-Good Samaritan University Hospital -St. Charles Campus

    Hospital Gift Shop Volunteers provide friendly customer service and support the daily operations of the hospital gift shop. Volunteers help create a welcoming environment for patients, visitors, and staff while assisting with sales, merchandise displays, and general shop organization.

    Responsibilities

    • Greet and assist customers in a courteous and professional manner.
    • Help patients, visitors, and staff locate merchandise and answer questions.
    • Operate the cash register and process purchases (training provided).
    • Restock shelves, arrange displays, and maintain merchandise inventory.
    • Keep the gift shop clean, organized, and attractive.
    • Assist with pricing, labeling, and inventory counts as needed.
    • Support special sales events and seasonal displays.
    • Follow hospital policies regarding confidentiality, safety, and customer service.

    Qualifications

    • Friendly, dependable, and customer-service oriented.
    • Ability to communicate effectively with a diverse population.
    • Comfortable handling cash and basic transactions.
    • Ability to stand, walk, and perform light lifting (up to 15 pounds).
    • Must complete required volunteer orientation and hospital training.

    Time Commitment

    • Minimum commitment of one shift per week.
    • Shifts typically range from 3–4 hours.
    • Flexible scheduling may be available.
