Board Members Needed: Help Rebuild & Launch Women Veterans Housing

About the Role:

Veteran Women of Influence (VWOI) is seeking passionate local leaders to join our Board of Directors. Our primary focus is restoring and launching our transitional home for female military veterans, following significant roof fire damage, while continuing to manage our community garden across the street.

Because we are currently rebuilding from the ground up, this is an active, hands-on board opportunity. We need strategic thinkers and doers who are ready to help shape the future of housing for women veterans in St. Louis.

Areas of Expertise Needed (Seeking candidates in one or more):

• Fundraising & Underwriting: Securing donations, corporate sponsors, and underwriters for both the housing project and community garden.
• Finance & Accounting: Managing budgets, financial planning, and non-profit compliance.
• Marketing & Public Relations: Telling our story, driving local outreach, and building brand awareness.
• Contracting & Property Development: Helping source, negotiate, and manage vendor/contractor relationships for structural renovations.

Qualifications:

• Must be based in the St. Louis metro area.
• Passion for supporting women veterans and urban community development.
• Willingness to leverage personal networks to help secure funding, materials, and community partners.
