    Description

Volunteer Advisory Board Members | Justice for James Irby Sr. Foundation | Remote

The Justice for James Irby Sr. Foundation is building an advisory board of experienced professionals who can help strengthen our work with families affected by unsolved violent crimes.

James Anthony Irby Sr.’s unresolved case is the foundation’s first case and the reason this organization exists. Our broader goal is to develop responsible case-review, advocacy, and support services for other families whose cases are accepted through the foundation’s review process.

    Areas of expertise we welcome

    • Homicide and cold case investigations
    • Law and legal research
    • Forensic science and digital evidence
    • Victim and family advocacy
    • Mental health and trauma-informed support
    • Public records and investigative research
    • Media, communications, and public awareness
    • Nonprofit development, fundraising, and program evaluation

What advisory board members will do

    • Offer informed recommendations within their field of expertise.
    • Review specific questions, procedures, or proposed initiatives when requested.
    • Help identify practical gaps, qualified resources, and potential partnerships.
    • Contribute to standards that protect families, sensitive information, and the integrity of case-review work.
    • Attend periodic virtual advisory discussions or assist on defined projects.

Advisory board members provide expertise and recommendations. Formal governance and case-acceptance decisions remain with the foundation’s board of directors.
