    Description

    Patient Companion Volunteer - Penn Medicine At Home

    Bring comfort and companionship to patients receiving hospice care through Penn Medicine at Home. As a Patient Companion Volunteer, you’ll provide emotional support and a listening ear during one of life’s most meaningful journeys.

    Volunteer responsibilities include:

    • Visiting patients in their homes, assisted living facilities, or hospitals
    • Reading aloud, sharing conversation, or simply offering quiet presence
    • Supporting caregivers and families through empathy and compassion
    • Helping patients feel seen and valued during their final chapter

    Qualifications:

    • Must be 18+ years old
    • Background check and health screening required
    • Comfortable being present with those facing end-of-life care
    • Training provided — no medical experience needed
    • Dependable, compassionate, and respectful of patient privacy

    Time Commitment:

    Flexible — as little as one hour per week can make a difference.

    Serve with purpose. Help create moments of peace, comfort, and dignity.

    Volunteers must:

    • Be atleast 18 years old
    • Complete background check, health screening, and orientation.
    • Commit to ongoing participation (minimum a few hours per month)
