    Chief Operating Officer (COO)

    About Us:

    Our organization is dedicated to improving the lives of residents on Roosevelt Island by enabling collaboration among citizens, businesses, and city authorities to develop technology solutions to urban challenges and improve economic and environmental outcomes.

    Role:

    We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Chief Operating Officer (COO) to help strengthen and scale our 501(c)(3) nonprofit’s operations, programs, and internal systems. This role will provide strategic and hands-on leadership to ensure efficient, compliant, and mission-driven organizational management.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Oversee daily operations, policies, and administrative systems
    • Develop and improve internal processes, workflows, and controls
    • Support financial management, budgeting, and compliance
    • Partner with the Executive Director and Board on strategy and planning
    • Manage vendors, volunteers, and operational resources
    • Establish performance metrics and reporting practices
    • Ensure regulatory, legal, and nonprofit compliance
    • Support program execution and organizational growth

    Required Qualifications:

    • Proven experience in operations, management, or executive leadership
    • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
    • Knowledge of nonprofit operations and governance
    • Experience managing budgets, contracts, or compliance processes
    • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
    • Commitment to the organization’s mission and community impact

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Prior nonprofit or volunteer leadership experience
    • Familiarity with grant-funded or government-supported programs
    • Experience scaling small or growing organizations
