Description:
This opportunity is for a volunteer to host a weekly chair‑yoga session for senior residents at Linda Glen who have expressed interest in gentle movement and wellness activities. The volunteer will facilitate a chair‑yoga class using a guided YouTube video displayed on a TV. The volunteer may participate but is not required to lead the class verbally. Sessions are held weekly on Mondays from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM. No additional language skills are required.

Volunteer Coordinator and the site’s Service Coordinator
Goal of Position:
To provide senior residents with a safe and accessible outlet for physical movement and relaxation that supports physical health, mental well‑being, and social connection.
Specific Tasks:
- Set up the space and technology needed to play the chair‑yoga video.
- Start and monitor the YouTube video during the session.
- Provide general guidance or encouragement as needed during the activity.
- Support residents one‑on‑one if assistance is needed while encouraging independence.
- Monitor attendance and ensure all participating residents sign the sign‑in sheet.
- Be receptive to resident feedback and questions about the activity.
- Assist with cleaning up the space after the session, returning chairs or furniture as needed.
- Communicate any supply or technology needs to the Service Coordinator or Volunteer Coordinator.
Qualifications:
Physical/Age Requirements:
- Able to maintain light physical activity for one hour.
- Able to move chairs or tables to create a safe activity space.
Skills/Education/Experience:
- Interest in wellness, movement, or senior activities.
- Friendly, patient, and comfortable working with seniors.
- Ability to work independently with support from on‑site staff as needed.
- Experience with yoga or exercise instruction is helpful but not required.
- CPR and First Aid certification strongly preferred.
