About Mentor A Promise
Mentor A Promise (MAP) is a New York City–based nonprofit serving children and youth ages 5–18 experiencing housing instability through mentorship, literacy, education, social-emotional learning (SEL), and creative expression. MAP Connect is MAP’s virtual learning and mentoring platform, designed to provide consistent, high-quality support to students regardless of location or circumstance.

PromiseConnects delivers virtual academic and SEL programming that prioritizes stability, access, and meaningful relationships. The program relies on strong systems, clear workflows, and continuous improvement to ensure students and mentors experience consistency and quality.
Role Overview
We are seeking a Program Manager to partner with the Director in managing and strengthening MAP Connect’s program operations. This role supports day-to-day program processes while helping identify opportunities to enhance structure, efficiency, and impact.
The Program Manager collaborates closely with program leadership to support planning, execution, documentation, and continuous improvement initiatives aligned with MAP’s mission and values.
Key Responsibilities
- Partner with the Director to manage and support existing program processes
- Identify opportunities to strengthen program structure, efficiency, and impact
- Collaborate on documents, workflows, and presentations aligned with improving MAP Connect
- Support planning and execution of program initiatives and cycles
- Assist with tracking progress, timelines, and deliverables
- Support continuous improvement through reflection, feedback, and iteration
- Coordinate across teams to ensure clarity and alignment
- Maintain timely, professional responsiveness via email and chat in Google Workspace
Qualifications
- Strong organizational and project coordination skills
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities
- Clear written and verbal communication skills
- Comfort collaborating in a team-based, mission-driven environment
- Reliability, follow-through, and attention to detail
- Alignment with MAP’s mission and dignity-centered values
Preferred Skills
- Experience in program management, operations, or nonprofit settings
- Familiarity with virtual or hybrid education programs
- Experience creating or organizing documents, workflows, or presentations
- Comfort working with cross-functional teams
- Experience supporting continuous improvement initiatives
Commitment
- Volunteer role
- Approximately 5–10 hours per week
- Minimum 6-month commitment preferred
- Fully remote with optional NYC-based collaboration
