We are seeking a mission-aligned Volunteer Data Scientist to support our modeling and forecasting efforts, helping us turn complex data into actionable insights that drive sustainable impact.
Key Responsibilities:
- Analyze model outputs and refine algorithms to improve forecasting accuracy.
- Collaborate with team members working on identification and data layers to ensure cohesive and effective model development.
- Interpret large datasets and build models that help inform decision-making across projects.
- Document methodology and results to ensure transparency and replicability.
- Communicate insights clearly to both technical and non-technical team members.
Requirements:
- Experience in data science, machine learning, or predictive modeling.
- Proficiency in Python, R, or other data-focused programming languages.
- Strong statistical analysis and data visualization skills.
- Understanding of model validation, evaluation metrics, and tuning methods.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a remote team environment.
Preferred Skills:
- Familiarity with sustainability or climate-related data.
- Experience working with cross-functional data pipelines.
- Knowledge of ethical data practices and bias mitigation.
- Comfort with version control (Git) and collaborative tools (e.g., Notion, Slack).
