    Description

    About Us:

    Delta Rising Foundation accelerates science-based systemic solutions as we evolve the art of sustainable culture. We are seeking a mission-aligned Volunteer Data Scientist to support our modeling and forecasting efforts, helping us turn complex data into actionable insights that drive sustainable impact.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Analyze model outputs and refine algorithms to improve forecasting accuracy.
    • Collaborate with team members working on identification and data layers to ensure cohesive and effective model development.
    • Interpret large datasets and build models that help inform decision-making across projects.
    • Document methodology and results to ensure transparency and replicability.
    • Communicate insights clearly to both technical and non-technical team members.

    Requirements:

    • Experience in data science, machine learning, or predictive modeling.
    • Proficiency in Python, R, or other data-focused programming languages.
    • Strong statistical analysis and data visualization skills.
    • Understanding of model validation, evaluation metrics, and tuning methods.
    • Ability to work collaboratively in a remote team environment.

    Preferred Skills:

    • Familiarity with sustainability or climate-related data.
    • Experience working with cross-functional data pipelines.
    • Knowledge of ethical data practices and bias mitigation.
    • Comfort with version control (Git) and collaborative tools (e.g., Notion, Slack).
