    Description

    Lab Hours of Operations: Mondays - Thursdays from 9 AM - 3 pm. Multiple volunteers are needed so folks can take shifts

    Position Description: Lab Assistants help students during regularly scheduled computer lab times. Students utilize the lab for language learning software, job search, homework, cashiering, customer service practice, and more.

    Primary Responsibilities:

    • Supervise the computer lab during your scheduled shift.
    • Language Learning Lab:
    • Help students log on/off computers and language learning software
    • Answer questions regarding language learning software functionality

    Career Building Support:

    • Assist students with WorkSource job search resources
    • Help students with online job search
    • Support students with cover letters and resume

    Keyboarding Support:

    • Help students log on/off computers
    • Answer questions regarding correct typing techniques

    General Computer Support:

    • Help students log on/off computers.
    • Support students if they have any questions regarding their homework

    Roles and responsibilities vary slightly by Job Training and Education Center location

    Other assignments as needed

    Reports to: Center Manager or Volunteer Supervisor

    Role Requirements & Abilities:

    • Experience working directly with people from diverse racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds, or an interest in learning about it
    • Ability to flex communication style to multiple cultural environments
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, and ability to present to diverse audiences, specifically racially, ethnically, and socioeconomically diverse communities
    • A solid understanding of, or interest in learning about, cultural humility and cultural responsiveness
    • Reliable, punctual, and consistent
    • Patient, understanding, and caring
    • Strong listening skills
    • Strong computer skills
