    Description

he World Disaster Center (WDC) is building a global disaster intelligence system and digital platform.

We are seeking an IT Officer to ensure our systems, tools, and infrastructure are reliable, secure, and scalable as we grow.

This is a hands-on execution role focused on building and maintaining a clean, efficient technical environment.

    Core Responsibilities

    • Set up and manage WDC’s core IT infrastructure (accounts, systems, access)
    • Ensure data security and system integrity across tools and platforms
    • Support backend structure for internal systems (databases, integrations)
    • Maintain and optimize tools (e.g., cloud platforms, collaboration tools)
    • Troubleshoot technical issues quickly and effectively
    • Support deployment and maintenance of internal and external platforms
    • Implement basic automation and workflows where needed
    • Manage user access, permissions, and system organization

    Expected Outputs

    • Clean, organized, and secure system architecture
    • Functional and stable infrastructure (no recurring breakdowns)
    • Documented IT systems and access protocols
    • Fast resolution of technical issues
    • Basic automation systems implemented
    • Scalable structure ready for growth

    Required Profile

    • 2–6 years experience in IT, systems administration, or similar roles
    • Strong understanding of cloud-based tools and infrastructure
    • Experience with:
      • System setup and administration
      • Data security and access control
      • Integrations and basic backend support
    • Ability to troubleshoot independently and deliver fast solutions
    • Strong organization and attention to detail

    Preferred Skills

    • Experience with tools like Supabase, APIs, or lightweight backend systems
    • Familiarity with startup or fast-moving environments
    • Basic scripting or automation (Python, JavaScript, or similar)
    • Understanding of database structures and data flows

    Core Skills

    • Problem-solving and execution speed
    • Systems thinking (clean structure, not patchwork)
    • Reliability and ownership
    • Ability to keep systems simple and effective

    What This Role Is NOT

    • Not a helpdesk-only support role
    • Not a purely theoretical IT position
    • Not software engineering-heavy (no full product development)
    • Not slow or process-heavy

    What You Will Work On

    • Supporting the backbone of WDC’s digital platform
    • Ensuring systems behind the disaster intelligence engine run smoothly
    • Enabling research, product, and operations teams with strong infrastructure
    • Preparing systems for scale and integration

    Compensation

Based on experience and engagement level (part-time, output-based).

    One-Line Role Definition

Keeps WDC’s systems clean, secure, and operational at all times.
