    Description

Foster Program Lead for Legacy Paws Recsue

    Project Overview

Legacy Paws Rescue is moving away from housing dogs primarily on our five acre property and building a real foster network instead. We need someone to lead that program: recruit and screen foster homes, match dogs to the right fosters, and make sure the funding is there to support them. You won't be building this alone or matching by gut feel either. We already have our own application process that matches both fosters and adopters to specific dogs based on archetype and lifestyle fit, a social media team who can help get the word out, and a Finance & Sustainability Director handling our books and grants. What we need is someone to lead the strategy and own the program.

    What You'd Actually Be Doing

    • Build the foster program from the ground up: application, screening, onboarding, and matching process for foster homes
    • Recruit new fosters, working with our social media team to run recruitment campaigns instead of doing outreach cold
    • Identify what the foster program actually needs to run (medical supplies, food, emergency vet funds) and work with our Finance & Sustainability Director to secure that funding, whether it's a dedicated fundraising push, grants, or sponsorships
    • Run our own matching process for fosters (and adopters), which scores people against dog archetype and lifestyle fit instead of relying on guesswork, to place dogs in our care, and eventually dogs pulled from shelters where they've been misunderstood or mislabeled, with the right foster homes
    • Set the policies and support system fosters need once a dog is placed: check-ins, supply access, someone to call when something goes wrong
    • Build this program as the backbone of how Legacy Paws places dogs going forward, not a side arm of it

    Why This Matters

I started Legacy Paws on five acres because there was nowhere else for these dogs to go. But a sanctuary was never supposed to be the whole plan. Dogs do better in an actual home, and the fastest way for us to help more of them is fosters, not more space. I can't build that program and run everything else at the same time. I need somebody who can own it: find the fosters, keep them supported, and make sure the money is there so nobody has to choose between taking in a dog and paying for its vet visit.

    How We've Prepared

    • Our matching process already exists: a proprietary application that scores both fosters and adopters against dog archetype and lifestyle fit, so you're not placing dogs on instinct alone
    • A social media team is already in place and ready to run foster recruitment campaigns alongside you, not something you'd have to build from scratch
    • A Finance & Sustainability Director is ready to partner with you on foster-specific funding
    • You'd work directly with our founder and the rest of the operational leadership team, not guessing at what's needed

    About Legacy Paws Rescue

Legacy Paws Rescue is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit (EIN 33-2211382) founded in January 2025 by Domenica Robbins, a U.S. Air Force veteran and former psychiatric registered nurse. We're a home sanctuary, not a kennel, for dogs other rescues call too aggressive, too broken, or too much. Our mission: creating a community of kindness where healing happens on both ends of the leash. Learn more at legacypawsrescue.org.
