    Description

    Volunteer From Home, Become a Disaster Dispatcher.

    Every day, the American Red Cross sees the heartbreak of people trying to cope with more intense storms, heavier rainfall, higher temperatures, stronger hurricanes, and more devastating wildfires. As more people rely on the Red Cross for help, the need for compassionate volunteers has never been greater. Join us by becoming a volunteer today!

    Disaster Dispatcher

    Virtual opportunity to coordinate local response teams that provide basic comfort and care to families after home fires and other disasters.

    Responsibilities:

    • Dispatch activate disaster responders and monitor the response to ensure appropriate resources are made available.
    • May be required to monitor activity across multiple responses.
    • Notify Public Affairs, Health, and Mental Health Services when needed.
    • Document incident information.
    • Attends regularly scheduled team meetings as required by Chapter/Region.

    Time Commitment:

    • Minimum 4 on-call shifts per month

    Qualifications:

    • Reliable access to phone, computer, and internet when on-call
    • Comfortable using and learning new technology
    • Able to prioritize multiple tasks in complex, rapidly changing and stressful situations
    • Strong written and verbal communications skills
