Description
Our hospice program is seeking compassionate volunteers to provide companionship and emotional support to patients facing life-limiting illnesses. Volunteers play an important role in enhancing quality of life through friendly visits, conversation, reading, listening, and supportive presence.
Responsibilities
- Visit hospice patients in the care center or designated locations
- Provide companionship and social interaction
- Read aloud, play games, or engage in meaningful conversation
- Offer emotional support and active listening
- Report concerns to hospice staff as appropriate
- Maintain patient confidentiality
Requirements
- Compassionate and dependable
- Strong communication and listening skills
- Ability to work respectfully with patients and families
- Complete hospice volunteer training and background screening
- Must be at least 18 years old (or according to agency policy)
Time Commitment
- Flexible scheduling
- Approximately 2-4 hours per week
