Position Summary
We are looking for a dedicated volunteer with experience in simultaneous Spanish and English interpreting for a virtual event taking place via Zoom from October 27th to 29th. The volunteer will provide real-time interpretation between Spanish and English during presentations and discussions, ensuring clear and effective communication for all participants. The volunteer's total commitment is approximately 10 hours over the three days of the event.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Provide accurate, real-time Spanish/English interpretation during live Zoom sessions across 3 days (3 hours per day).
- Facilitate clear communication between Spanish-speaking and English-speaking participants.
- Participate in scheduled preparation sessions to test audio, interpretation setup, and event logistics.
- Effectively utilize Zoom's interpretation features and troubleshoot basic technical issues as needed.
- Maintain professionalism, confidentiality, and impartiality throughout the event.
- Collaborate with the event coordination team to ensure seamless communication during all sessions.
Qualifications & Skill Requirements
- Proven experience providing live Spanish/English interpretation.
- Previous experience interpreting through Zoom or other virtual meeting platforms.
- Strong knowledge of Zoom, including its interpretation features.
- Excellent verbal communication skills in Spanish and English.
- Ability to interpret accurately and in real time during live discussions.
- Reliable internet connection, quality headset, microphone, and a quiet workspace.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience interpreting for healthcare, medical, or public health events.
- Familiarity with medical and healthcare terminology in both Spanish and English.
- Previous experience supporting international or nonprofit virtual events.
