    The Role

    This role is responsible for building, nurturing, and sustaining an engaged community around our mission, programs, and initiatives.

    You will move people from:

    Awareness → Engagement → Participation → Retention

    You are not just managing interactions.

    You are building a community that grows, stays, and advocates.

    This role operates at the intersection of marketing, programs, and community-building—driving participation, retention, and long-term engagement.

    What You’ll Own

    Community Engagement Strategy

      • Develop and execute a community engagement strategy aligned with:
      • Marketing campaigns
      • Program participation goals
      • Organizational mission
      • Define engagement pathways from awareness to active participation

    Audience Relationship Building

      • Build relationships with:
      • Community members
      • Program participants
      • Volunteers (in collaboration with HR/Operations)
      • Foster a welcoming, inclusive, and engaging environment

    Engagement Programs & Initiatives

      • Design and implement engagement initiatives:
      • Virtual events
      • Discussions and community conversations
      • Interactive activities
      • Drive engagement across:
      • Slack
      • Social platforms
      • Virtual community spaces

    Event & Participation Support

      • Partner with program and event teams to:
      • Increase attendance
      • Enhance participant experience
      • Support community-facing events and follow-up engagement

    Social Media Engagement Alignment

      • Work with Social Media Manager to:
      • Convert followers into active participants
      • Engage meaningfully with audiences
      • Ensure consistency between social presence and community experience

    Feedback & Community Insights

      • Gather feedback from community members
      • Identify:
      • Needs
      • Challenges
      • Opportunities
      • Provide insights to marketing, programs, and leadership

    Retention & Community Growth

      • Develop strategies to:
      • Increase retention
      • Encourage repeat participation
      • Build long-term engagement
      • Grow a strong, loyal community base

    Donor & Advocacy Pathways

      • Partner with Donor Relations to:
      • Identify potential donors
      • Support conversion from engagement → giving
      • Encourage advocacy and word-of-mouth growth

    Engagement Metrics & Performance

      • Track key metrics:
      • Participation rates
      • Engagement levels
      • Retention
      • Community growth
      • Use data to refine strategies and improve outcomes

    Process & System Development

      • Build scalable processes for community engagement
      • Implement systems to:
      • Track participation
      • Manage interactions
      • Ensure consistency and efficiency

    Continuous Improvement & Innovation

      • Identify new ways to grow and engage the community
      • Stay ahead of trends in community building
      • Continuously improve engagement strategies

    Qualifications

    Required

      • 2–4 years of experience in community engagement, marketing, or program coordination
      • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
      • Experience engaging with diverse audiences

    Preferred

      • Experience in nonprofit or mission-driven organizations
      • Experience managing online communities
      • Experience supporting events or programs
      • Experience in remote or distributed teams

    Commitment

      • 8–12 hours per week
      • Flexible schedule (with responsiveness to community interactions)
      • Participation in engagement activities and coordination required
      • Fully remote
